Brien Thomas bought his first saw mill in the early 1990's while working for Crossroad Recycled Lumber (CRL) re-manufacturing old growth timbers. When CRL relocated, Brien founded Mad Marmot Mills and began sawing logs.
Having long since been a member of the million board foot club, Brien has cut everything from old growth salvage from trees blown down in the storm of 1928 on the Olympic peninsula and all the well known species of the pacific slope (cedar, birch, hemlock, maple, fir) to exotic species from various urban sources.
Currently Brien mills for projects ranging from slabs used as table tops for local breweries to siding for rustic cabins and tree houses. He also consults on the design and application of custom wild edge materials and projects
Mad Marmot Mills provides services to Northwest Washington State including Whatcom and northern Skagit Counties.
